Isn't it funny that when he was alive, he was not paid that much attention? But in his death, he got so much attention, it was overwhelming. It was crazy. The media coverage about his death was more than double of what he got when he was alive.
Yes, he is talented. Yes, everyone knows who he was and acknowledged him as a really good actor. But it is when he died that everyone started saying things like:
"He was such a talented actor. This is a tragic loss..."
"He was one of the most gentle, the most honest, the most caring and the most compassionate persons I had met"
"... he was an extraordinary actor..."
"... was gifted and talented..."
"He was such a special and genuine person, so extraordinarily talented because he was so raw and honest with his feelings..."
"He was a sweet, smart and talented young man..."
Why izit the world only realises what a great guy he is only after he is dead? Why pay so much tribute to him and recognise his greatness only when he's not around? He won't know all these? He's gone...
The world should just start appreciating people when they are well and alive and not get all OTT with the praises, acknowledgements, etc when people are dead.
Like what my mom always says "An artist will only get famous and his pieces will only sell once he is dead." Which, come to think of it, is kinda quite true.
I got the news of his death from my sister on the day he died. I was shocked and stared at her in disbelieve. Heath Ledger dead??!! Impossible. Is she pulling my leg or izit some kinda movie he is in where he played a guy who died? But, unfortunately it's true. I logged on the the internet, and news of his death was all over cyberspace. Newspapers, TV, radio and mags were all talking about him. And I admit, it is a great loss. He was brilliant in Brokeback Mountain.
And I was really looking forward to watching The Dark Knight, in which he played The Joker. I heard he's really good as The Joker. Oh well, gotta wait for the movie to begin showing only I'll know exactly how good he was. Sigh...
RIP Heath Ledger....
