I requested for fam trips to our supplier's offices to understand better their work procedures and processes so that in future, I will know more on what can be achieved for my collaterals and what are the limitations, time contraints, problems that may occur, etc...
My boss, got Joey to organize the fam trip immediately after my request. Joey was quick to arrange for a fam trip to our color separator's office yesterday. Jenny, the GM of MagnaColor was waiting for us at the ground floor of her office yesterday when we arrived. She ushered us into a meeting room located just after the entrance. And after taking 1 look around, I totally understand why the color separators are able to work late into the night and still there are no complains whatsoever from them. You wanna know why? Coz their office is super bloody nice, okay... I feel really malu when I think of my office compared to theirs. Their office excudes a minimalist, modern feel. All plastic and glass furniture, white walls, etc. Very very nicely done.
Jenny took us around the entire office, from the ground floor up to the 3rd floor of the building, explaining extensively their work processes and showing us all the machines and the men at work. She even prepared samples and notes for us to bring home. So pro!! Jenny is very very knowledgeable in her field of work. She knows so much and the way she speaks and explains things to us really impressed me! She's damn professional and every question thrown at her was answered most satisfactorily. I wanna be like her one day. So pro and collected and calm and an absolute expert in my industry.
At the end of our visit, we found David Man waiting for us downstairs. He came late. We decided to have lunch at Paddington House of Pancakes at The Curve before heading back to the office. On my way into the parking, EY pointed out a new shop to me. It's called Cupcake Chic. OMG!! I was thinking to myself "An entire shop dedicated to selling cupcakes??!! I MUST check it out!" The idea of a choc cupcake was enough to make me salivate a little already. Ok, must mantain. Cannot show my gluttoneous side to people!!
I went to check out the cupcakes after ordering my lunch. Chriz and I decided to go while waiting for our food to arrive. The cupcake shop is delightfully bright, clean and sweet looking with pastel colors and the smell of freshly baked cupcakes wafted through the door. Wow!! I walked in and felt really excited looking at the colorful rows of cupcakes. I decided to buy a couple to try. I chose a green tea flavor [which I devoured in the office after that] and a choc flavor [which Yaacob ate later that night when he came over]. The green tea cupcake really have a tinge of green tea flavor but most of it was covered by the icing's sweetness. But it's ok. I still wanna go back there and try other flavors. Check it out if you happen to be in the area. It's something really different.
After buying the cupcakes, I teman-ed Chriz to Big Apple Doughnuts coz she wanted to buy some for her mom. I got talked into buying a choc doughnut and a white-icing-vanilla flavored doughnut by Chriz. I initially didn't wanna buy any coz I bought half a dozen JCo doughnuts just a couple of days back. But the way she described how good the choc doughnut was enough to make me wanna try it. Good la! I wanna gain weight. Hopefully with all these doughnuts and cupcakes, I'll be able to put on a few kilos...
After lunch, we went back to the office. Ho-hum....
This morning, I went to our printer's factory for a fam trip. Stan, the guy who liaises with us from this printing company was at the entrance of the factory with YY and Alice when EY and I arrived. Stan did his homework too! He prepared his company profile pamphlets for us and also notes on the printing process. He then proceeded to explain to us in detail the step-by-step procedures of the printing process from the moment they get the films from us to the finished products. He showed us a lot of machines, explained their functions then drove us out to their smaller shops to show us more machines on printing, die-cutting, lamination and binding. Very very informative. I am really happy coz now I know what really goes on in color separation and printing. I'll be able to do my work better now that I know all these processes. I'll know what to check and what problems to anticipate.
After our visit, EY and I went for lunch at Damansara Perdana at a specialty 'pan mee' shop. This shop's 'pan mee' is really special. They cook the noodles and put an egg into the bowl. You gotta mix the egg [white and yolk] with the noodles then mix it with their special chili before eating. Very very unique. It tasted real good! I first got to know about this shop through Shu when she brought my sisters and I there one day for lunch. I didn't try it at that time coz I hadta meet Yaacob for lunch. Today, finally I was able to try it. I'll surely go back there to try more of their special noodles :) They have black pepper flavored 'pan mee' and a lot more... Yum yum...
EY and I then went to Gan4Hire's [one of our panel advertising agencies] office at Bangsar for a meeting. Their office looks like some kungfu school. Really don't look like an ad agency. Their signboard is this black board with carved chinese golden words on it. Really like some kungfu school's board from a martial arts flick. Hehe...
Dropped EY at the LRT station after the meeting then went home. I am really happy coz for the past 2 days, my time had been spent really productively. I learnt a lot from my visits to the color separator and printer. It's really useful knowledge for me. The last visit will be to the office of our production supplier for billboards, signfaces, etc. I can't wait!!
I also can't wait for my beach hol!! The excitement is slowly sinking in as the days drew closer to my holiday!! Aaahhh, the sun, sea, sand and absolute bliss of doing nothing except bask under the sun, spending quality time with Yaacob and good seafood.... I really cannot wait!! I already researched on where to go, what activities to do and where to eat and drew up an itinery. I also typed out my packing list. Hehehe.... Am so excited!! I hope the resort we booked is really as nice as the pics shown in their website!! I am crossing my fingers there'll be no noisy families there with screaming kids invading the pool and disrupting the serenity of the place and I certainly hope there'll be no jakuns who'll jump into the pool fully clothed coz I really cannot that all that. I want a good, peaceful, relaxing holiday... Away from the stressful noisy city... So those noisy kids and all better all stay away or they'll hafta deal with one very angry nasty skinny chick if her peace and quiet gets disrupted. Hahaha... I know I sound a bit drastic and drama... But I really mean it! I NEED my peace and quiet to collect my thoughts and totally relax :P
