I was listening to FlyFM's Pagi Show this morning while I was driving to work. The topic that Fat Phabes and Ben were talking about was people who talk on their phones in the cinemas and what to do about it. They invited callers to call in and share their views and suggestions.
While listening to them probe this topic, I totally agree with some of the callers with whom I shared similar situations with while watching movies in cinemas. The most common problem is that some people just are not considerate enough to switch off their phones or put it to silent mode. They disrespect fellow movie goers by disrupting the movie halfway with their phones ringing loudly and then answering their calls, chatting away as if they are in their own rumah. I wonder what goes thru their minds when they do such things. We are all bombarded by a HUGE reminder to switch off our phones or silent it before the movies start via commercials. So, it's either the culprits are blind and deaf or just plain stupid not to understand the message. Whatever it is, it's really annoying when halfway thru a movie which I paid good money for, I hear phones ringing then "HELLO?". Why can't these people be more considerate. Take your calls outside the movie hall. Not in it when lotsa other people paid money to watch a movie.
Another source of annoyance in the cinema is when my chair is kicked. Many times, I felt the person sitting behind me shift his/her legs, lean his/her legs against the back of my chair or just kick it. Aaarrgghhh... Hey, there's a human being sitting there ok, so don't kick!!
I also encountered people who just can't stop talking in the cinemas. They would talk about the movie before it starts, talk and criticise it during the show and just talk and talk and talk... They just won't stop talking. They'd guess what happens next in the movie out loud so that people from 5 seats away can hear them. Gawd!! What is going on? Don't these people know when to shut up? If they enjoy listening to their own voice so much, please just buy DVDs and watch movies at home, where they can talk all they want without disrupting other people.
I really am curious why these people do what they do. I wish people in KL will just be a tad more considerate when it comes to their behaviour in public places coz what they do affect other people around them!
