I really wonder what kinda country I'm living in.
The political drama that unfolded recently is just too much!! Can't the gov just focus on improving the state of the country, curb the crime rate, etc instead of accusing each other of crimes and making headlines, shooting each other down with more accusations?
I'm really not interested in whether Najib is involved in the Altantuyaa case or whether Anwar really did sodomised his aid. I mean, what has it got to do with me? I just want our quality of life to be improved, no inflation, lesser crimes, stability of economy, etc. Don't hang the dirty linens in public!! We're not interested!!! We're just interested in what will benefit us.
And just now, while reading some blogs, I came across an entry whick linked to an article by BERNAMA. This article condemned homosexuals, calling gays immoral and evil. Corrupting our nation with their unnatural acts that defies the natural course of life. The article also blames the West for their influence in the rising numbers of homosexuals in our country. It seems, the West's openness in accepting gays and legalising gay marriages is a BAD BAD thing for our country.
Hmmm... I wonder who wrote the article. The people who were interviewed for the article and their comments quoted, don't they feel a bit ashamed of what they said?! I mean, do gays have a choice in being gays? Just like for un-gay people. Do they have a choice in their preferred sexuality? I dunno about you, to me, I think gays are not evil nor immoral. They are born with the preference of the same sex. I don't think they can help it if they really do not feel attracted to the opposite sex. I think we should be more supportive to gays as they probably feel really confused by their own sexuality and feel afraid to be who they really are inside. They fear rejection and might have low self esteem and low confidence. It is until they find people who's the same as them or share common traits or interests, that they begin to feel better of themselves.
So why do the society want to be biased against them? It is not their choice. They are born like this. We should be kinder, be more open and supportive, show them it's ok to accept who they really are and be their friend.
I have lots of gay friends. A couple of close ones. And I don't find anything abnormal about them. They are smart, articulate and very good people. Sometimes hanging out with them is so much more fun coz they have great sense of humor and there's a sense of openness in them.
I wanna stress, homosexuals are not EVIL. IMMORAL. They are just people, human beings just like the rest of us, only their sexual preference in different. That's all. No point to be inconsiderate and mean to them.
What I consider evil and immoral are corruption, not doing anything good when you have the power and authority to do so, letting murderers get away, etc.
That's EVIL.
