Nelson & Jureen's Wedding

Nelson and Jureen got hitched end of September. We went for her wedding dinner at the Royal China Restaurant on the 28th of September [Friday]. It's great to see all my ex-colleagues there and catch up with them. Kinda miss some of the girls. This wedding is one of the most memorable ones. Why??? Coz while we were digging into the first dish, a video of the newly-weds was played over the TVs in the restaurant. It's a MTV-like kinda video, with Nelson and Jureen acting in it. It was strangely hilarious and baffling at the same time. Never before had I attended a wedding where videos of the couple acting in a short lil drama was played. Truly unique, huh? Hehe... Nelson and Jureen can act!! They should be recruited by TVB coz seriously they can keep a straight face, deliver their lines and give good facial expressions. Hahaha....
On the morning of the 28th of September [Sunday], we went to Jureen's house to attend her wedding ceremony. Buntings with pictures of her and Nelson were placed at the house porch. We took some pics with the bride while waiting for the groom to arrive.
The groom finally arrived about half an hour later. Nelson looked nervous but at the same time tried to look cool and calm. He stalled time by sitting down having a drink. The 'sisters' pestered him to start 'getting the bride' so that they can make him and his friends do crazy things.
After a while, Nelson stood up and walked towards the house and the fun began. The 'sisters' first passed round cans of beer and ordered the guys to down it. Then, one of the girls brought a bowl of dunno-wad to Nelson and asked him to drink it. After that, the guys were fed crackers with a thick spread of wasabi. Finally, when the guys thought it's over, the girls pointed to a bunch of hanging grapes right at the house entrance. Nelson hadta reach the grapes and eat all of them. Luckily, he had really supportive friends. They carried him on their shoulders and he managed to reach the grapes and ate them. I thought this was the last thing they hadta do, but no! After that the girls handed him a sheet of paper [a contract] and ordered him to read the contents out loud to the walkie-talkie [the other walkie talkie was brought to Jureen, who was waiting in her room upstairs]. Then, he hadta sign and stamp his finger print on that piece of paper.

The girls finally let the guys into the house. But, just in the living hall area. They were required to do more things, like push ups and following the movements of a ballerina. Then, all of them went upstairs to get the bride. Phew!! FINALLY...

After all the hoo-haa, the tea ceremony began, which took a really long time. Then, it's time for the new husband and wife to go to Nelson's house.

They're gonna fly off to Gold Coast for their honeymoon the very next day. Sigh... How romantic!!

I wish the happy couple all the best and a loving, lasting, fulfilling marriage :)
