Last Friday: Quantum of Solace + Mist

Last Friday [not yesterday], I watched the latest Bond movie 'Quantum of Solace' [dunno what the title means] at GSC Signature together with Suilin, Kenny, Alison and a bunch of other people. There was a huge crowd at the cinema, no doubt, all going to catch this latest Bond flick.

Can't say I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, though the action starts right at the begining of the movie til the end. I really don't agree with Daniel Craig being Bond. I just don't think he IS Bond. He's just weird as Bond. I don't really remember the storyline for 'Casino Royale', so I didn't get some parts in this movie as it's a continuation from 'Casino Royale' and some of the characters would talk about things that happened in the previous movie.
He's really not suitable to be James Bond. Don't ask me why. I just don't feel the 'Bond' in him [no offense to Daniel Craig's fans! This is just my personal opinion].
Although I must say, he did buff up for the role. He's looking super good for a man his age ;)
I'd like to think of Bond as suave, smooth, confident... A super-spy with a sense of humor and weakness for women. But this Bond is rough, raw and quite violent.
And, what's a Bond movie without the Bond girls? Introducing new Bond girl, Olga Kurylenko. She is pretty. But not very lady-like in her gestures and on how she walks. Not very refined. Not that elegant. Don't know if this opinion of mine on her is influenced by her other movies that I've seen prior to this movie [she was in Hitman, where she played a prostiture and in Max Payne, where she played this sexy vixen who wanted to have a ONS with Mark Wahlberg].
She's one tough looking chick intent on getting her revenge. But hmmm.... I still have my reservations on her as a Bond girl [again, no offense to all her fans out there].
Gemma Arterton played MI6 agent Strawberry Fields. I don't really know if she's considered a Bond girl in this movie or she's just making a cameo appearance coz her on-screen time was very short. She appeared in less than 5 scenes, I think. Not exactly the femme fatale kinda Bond girl [if she IS considered one].
Or maybe Gemma did appear in more scenes, just that we, Malaysian audiences don't get the priviledge of watching it due to our censorship board's razor-sharp scissors :P

The scene below was not shown in the movie. Maybe I should get the original DVD. Then, I'll be able to find out if Gemma appeared more in the movie or not.
Dame Judi Dench played M to perfection. I'd love to be M. She just sits around in the office, barking orders at her agents. Or relax in her luxurious pad with a 6-star bathroom after work, still barking orders at her poor agents via her hi-tech phone.
The villain in this movie is Dominic Green, played by Mathieu Amalric. One look at this dude is enough to know that he's evil. He has this psycho aura about him. Slimy, cruel, unpredictable and prone to have violent outbursts. Perfect bad guy, don't you think?
I won't talk much about Quantum of Solace as not to give away the storyline to those who have not watched it. So, this is is about the movie. Just a brief write-up on the main characters you'd see in this movie.
Now, speaking of Bond girls, I love Eva Green as Vesper Lynd [Bond's love] from Casino Royale. That's what I call a Bond girl. Refined, elegant, lady-like, witty and intelligent. Really heart Eva Green. She has such a mesmerizing gaze. A mysterious aura about her. She makes it hard for you to look elsewhere when she's in the room.
Bond is so happy and in love with her. Too bad she hadta die :'( Wish she could reprise her role as Vesper coz she's such a great Bond girl. But, I don't think the movie producers can't bring back the dead... Sigh...
Which is hotter? Eva or Olga? Both have very exotic looks, both are sexy. Both are Bond girls. Take your pick.
Okies, enough with all the Bond talk.
After the movie, we went to Mist to join Lam, Loo and Clement. I was quite surprised to see the club so empty. No long queues at the entrance, no pushy crowd inside. Frankly speaking, there was very few people in there. For a Friday night, I don't think this is good for a club. Even though the crowd's so-so, I must say the music's a blast! Really great R&B stuff. The DJs rocked!! Hung out there til almost closing time, then balik rumah tidur...
