On Makeup

I notice more and more girls are slapping layers and layers of makeup on their faces. Some have so much makeup on, the color of their faces are 3 shades lighter than the rest of their bodies. Don't they have mirrors at home? Don't they check on their makeup before heading out? Don't they know that less is more?

Some girls look downright scary with 3 inches of foundation and heavily lined eyes with obviously fake lashes. Totally nightmarish!

Haha... I've always had this thought of running my finger down the side of their faces to see whether I'd leave a line, exposing their real skin underneath :P

I wonder, with so much makeup on all the time, how do their skin breath? Does anyone but themselves know how they actually look like without all the face paint?
For the longest time, geishas are known to paint their faces white, draw their eyebrows with coal and draw their lips into the tiniest pucker in red. But they are geishas. And this was practised years ago. In modern times, with all the makeup tools available, one might thought girls are able to enhance their natural looks with ease, instead of hiding themselves underneath layers of paint. Are they that insecure about their natural looks? I notice some girls wear heavy makeup complete with falsies even for a mamak session or to the gym. Ridiculous, right? Especially to the gym. They'll sweat. And the makeup will kinda melt a bit. Which will be awful. I wonder if their friends would recognize them if one day they walk past without makeup.
Some are too obssessed with their looks that, if they do not have makeup on, they'd hide behind HUGE sunnies, even at night. Hahaha... Hilarious, right? I know why they do that. Coz, mostly, our eyes give us away. If we're feeling tired, hungover or sleepy, it's always our eyes that show with the bags, dark circles, redness, etc. For girls, eye makeup is the most important. Without concealer, powder, liner, mascara and falsies, their eyes will be bare. Some think that makes them look haggard and tired. Hence, the reason for wearing HUGE sunnies, even at night [they don't care if they look like idiots. I mean, how to see at night with sunglasses on?]. To hide their bare eyes.
I think different occasions calls for different kinds of makeup. During the day, be light-handed. Dust a bit of powder to even out the skin tone. Put on a bit of nude or brown eyeshadow. Blush should be barely there. Wear lip balm or light colored gloss. At night, makeup should be a bit more dramatic, depending on what kind of look you want to go for. Red lipstick for sexiness. Dark smokey eyes for that mysterious aura. But choose either to play up the eyes or lips. Never both. Don't go for super fake falsies which extend up to your brows. Reserve that for when you're performing on stage. I like using just mascara. I only use falsies when I attend weddings and big events or parties. And I am very particular about my falsies. I use only the most natural looking ones that don't shout out 'FAKE' a mile away. Be subtle. It's best if people can't even tell I'm wearing falsies. And I'm not a fan of foundation. Too much of a hassle to remove. I use only powder. 1 layer of light powder. That's it. I hardly use lipstick. Don't like to keep touching it up. The only thing I play up are my eyes. I do my eye makeup depending on where I'm going. I keep a conscious effort not to overdo it.
I think the best part of makeup is to enhance my features. Cover my flaws subtly. That's about it. I don't want to look like a completely different person with makeup on. I don't want a day to come where, I put on so much makeup all the time, I scare someone with my bare face. Hmmm... Wonder if this happens to those girls with heavy arse makeup. Scare their boyfriends in the morning or their friends if they happen to bump into them without makeup on. Hahahahahaha...
